When Jenny's become anxious in the past and been worried about running out of treatment options (which eventually happens to all stage 4 patients), Kyle has pacified her by saying there is always more treatments available. He knows treatments aren't curative for Jenny. The best he can hope for is that it buys Jenny a little extra time.

Stated that goal now is just getting Jenny back to some better condition to go home and function but they are not at this time even ready to address the "fighting" of the cancer. She is really weak. I think Kyle has to go back to work. The first 90 day leave increment was probably Aug, Sept, Oct. Then he was granted another 90 days: Nov, Dec, Jan. Jenny has been not eating well for awhile, why the surprise now, why did they not know the consequences of that and the need to intervene. Jenny must have fooled the doctors. Shame on all it them for not getting her Hospice care.
