Start with # 1 and go through the firing order and do all of the intakes, then go back to #1 and do all the exhausts in order. Two turns and you are done. If you want to check to see if your method was ok, turn the engine until the #1 exhaust lifter starts to move and then see how much preload you have on the intake valve.
I followed the GM book to the letter as far as removing valve lash in the order specified then turning the rocker arm nut 1 full turn.
