Today the trend is lighter, cheaper, and smaller because of the popularity of concealed carry. Few citizens want to carry a 40 ounce, all steel pistol.

The 610 can shoot the 40 caliber ammo and I have put some 40's through the gun but not enough to get excited about. The 10 mm has a bit more zip, particularly if reloading to wring out what the 10 is really capable of.
