Review. Van Der Hagen is a reputable brand out of Holland that has been around since the early 1900s. After trying out so many safety razors I figured I had to give this one a go. I grabbed myself a long-handle version off Amazon. The razor was well on the cheaper side. Overall, I think that the Van Der Hagen is a great inexpensive safety razor ... For the Twig. Smooth, efficient, and fast without being rushed, even though I was sporting almost 10 days of growth. Highly recommend for that type of use. Anyway, this is my opinion obviously, so YMMV. I returned my Rockwell T2 for 6S and couldn’t have been happier. For starters, Rockwell T2, although adjustable for that perfect shave, felt too cheap yet bulky. I didn’t feel like I’m holding a 150$ razor in my hands. And after few shaves, I set the adjuster on 5 and called it a day. Never touched it afterwards. I typically prefer unscented balm but ymmv. I tend to do either/or, mostly by scent or at random. If I have a lot of razor burn I tend toward a balm. If it's very hot or humid, I stay away from thicker, oily balms. Lighter "aftershave milk," gels, etc work fine in any weather for me.The Feather, Polsilver Super Iridium, and Personna “Med Prep” blades were easily the preferred, “top shelf” blades…for me.
