There are a few things to consider. 1. Your presets need to be dialed in for the amp and cab. Taking one that was dialed in for FRFR and running it into an amp and cab is not ideal. 2. Gibson has been doing this off/on since the 70’s. the main benefit is maple tends to be stiffer, making the neck less prone to warpage and having the headstock snap off. It is also more readily available than mahogany. gibson is notorious for quietly putting out a small batch of a randomly spec’d guitar.
