Tips are 5x as much at the steakhouse I work at now.. servers doing 5-6k in sales on the regular weekend night and going home after tip out with $550 in 5 hours on a Monday. With that being said, you can still make $25-55 an hour regularly serving at a low ticket place if the business is there and you can turn your tables quickly.

Depending where you are, if you are around the coast, you can usually find a local spot that seafood restaurant that does good. These places usually wont take servers without experience.
In the end, a 12 hour shift is nuts. Idk if there’s anything you can do to totally avoid body aches, but proper hydration & good shoes helped.
