It's a fully captured bolt and carrier using a long stroke piston system. It's sort of a hybrid AR/AK. It can use any standard AR lower and any standard mags.

There's no way you'd be able to run low power rounds through the suppressor plug unsuppressed, though, no matter how broken in the gun is. The hole sizes on each plug just don't overlap enough. It shoots fine suppressed. Won't run unsuppressed with the suppressor gas plug from my experience.
