Jan 30, 2021 · Problem solved! It turns out that the keyswitch was bad! It was losing the C-D continuity while in the start position. This means that the ECM was losing power while cranking even though the Spark Module was still receiving B+. A quick diagnosis clue was that with the headlight switch ON, the headlights were going off while cranking.

From 2007 and later model 700's, the ECM was replaced with individual circuit breakers etc., which solved the ECM failure dilemma. I tried the ecm off the unit that’s not starting and it started the running ranger just fine. I swapped crank position sensors same resaults. I tested continuity from the injector wires to the ecm plug and that’s good. A short to ground is the more often found problem. There is nothing to do but investigate. Look at the entire wiring harness for damage.
