For 2 days my 5 year old hen has been making a gurgling sound trying to breathe. Her crop was very swollen. When I picked her up she expelled a dark brown fluid and whole mealworms that she had eaten the day before. The smell is terrible. I emptied the fluid from her crop a few times yesterday and she seemed to feel better the gurgling stopped.
