It doesn't sound like Oanda is the problem. You can't call yourself a trader if you don't trade. The inactivity fee is clearly stated in their terms several times. I use Oanda everyday, and get amazing results, I would even say they're one of the top brokers in the world. I get anywhere from 5-12% ROI daily using Oanda.
Oanda has been really crap recently. Especially their app. The balances are not correct over 10 second lag when completing trades or checking prices and now they won't let you trade crypto durring the weekend. Both brokers support third-party developers and algorithmic trading, but while Oanda enjoys success in the North American market, Interactive Brokers ranks among the leading brokers internationally. there's a definite difference because tradingview's default chart has FXCM as a broker so spreads will differ. i'd suggest using tradingview for analysis then looking back at your broker's chart for executing orders.
