Jun 11, 2022 · Introduction. The Magus’s subclass, Hybrid Study, is hugely influential on your tactics, your build options, and your play style. While every magus is built around Spellstrike, your subclass will determine how you employ spellstrike and what other tactics you might use in combat. I ended up with a very fun build and great roleplay. Decent damage, great AC, and fun bag of tricks from each class, from each level, and from my feat selection. Ended up with: Magus Sword Saint 14. Fighter Aldori Defender 3. Aldori Swordlord prestige 3. Very fun build. This is my build, I'm playing as a tank magus right now! I'm using Bastion free archetype with Orc anchestry, to comensate magus low health. Inexorable iron is a 2 wielding weapon study. This class grant a lot of temporary hit points and things like that. The sparkling targe is a shield tank that can block magic.

A spell storing weapon is also very useful for such a build. And then build a crit-fishing build. A 15-20 crit with Shocking Grasp attached is very mean, especially if you take Critical Focus eventually. With Spell Combat you can have Shocking Grasp attached to your first attack every round.

There is no "best" Magus. Different kinds of Magi are good (or in comparison to the other kinds "best") in different areas. All of them are viable. If you want ranged combat, be an Eldritch Archer. For melee: Vanilla Magus for highest number of spells per day and highest flexibility. Eldritch Scion for ease-of-use with spntaneous casting.Welcome! Kensai is an archetype very suited to dex/int builds and gets you exotic weapon proficiency at lvl 1. Whips are, unfortunately pretty bad as far as weapons go.
