As the other guy said, FTB Chunks lets you chunk load. However, if you still want to use the flux network's chunk loading, you probably need to change the serverconfig file in your world save. Use the FTB Teams Map (default key M). Click the chunk your controller is on to claim it. I have already tried enabling the force_disable_minimap config in the world's serverconfig file, but had no effect. Don't think there is a way. Even if they could be disabled, claims a dead giveaway when passing through. Generally on PVP servers claims are bad because they don't give you protection and just give you away.

yes it mattes, it depends on what mods are available. In SF3 you have FTB utilities and that should have a default setting for backups. All commands are available on tab completion - try typing "/ftb" and then do a space and press tab, that will show you available subcommands.
