After that the check engine light came on and about 5 miles down the road the "Engine Hot/AC off" signal came on the dash and the gauge was in the red. I pulled over and requested a tow. Later, I pulled the code p1258 which indicated that the Coolant Temp Sensor was bad. I purchased a new ECT but I cant find the location of it for the life of me.

One tube is cold and condensates. The other tube is warm. the A/C button is on. why am I just blowing hot air out of both sides.2009 Express 1500, Engine Hot, AC Off message. The difference between normal and totally fucked is about 40 degrees F, and the inside and outside of the engine can be at vastly different temperatures. If the engine coolant temp sensor is bad it could give a false signal to the PCM, making it think the engine is hot and causing the message. Since you aren't overheating I don't see any reason not to drive the truck until you get home and can visit the dealer.
