so, tried on existing save, tried on a new game, tried total reinstall; after the newest patch, i cant equip or unequip weapons anymore, and once i draw a gun i cant put it away or swap to a new one, cant reload, etc. top left has a bar saying "action blocked".

Fix: Your middle mouse button is most likely mapped to a dpi shift or another button. So just turn it back to default. Then your unequip option will work.
