I've seen it mentioned in a couple posts that some players prefer a 10% dmg avoidance (light armor) to 10% dmg reflection (heavy armor) and thought I'd mention that 10% dmg avoidance has diminished returns at high armor ratings. Consider that the dmg reduction cap for all armor is 80%.

Heavy armor grants 30% arrow resistance per slot, light armor gives 0% until elvish, which gives 10%. Always wear every piece and arrows will still damage you, but not oneshot you. Check shops frequently for mregen rings! They are super cheap, and can give similar magic regen bonuses as robes.
