Thanks for the reply!! The motor model # is 225 581500 (15hp) The prop that's on there now model # is tough to read but I think it's 072025. The motor is on a 14' Gamefisher Aluminum boat. We usually carry 2 avg sized poeple and fishing equipment. (Battery, Minn Kota trolling mtr, gas tank...) How it works: Gamefisher ignition is the CDI type ignition consist - the charging coil -facing toward flywheel magnets, the trigger coil - combined with CDM and facing toward the shaft , the triggering magnet with ignition advance and the spark coil. I'm guessing that Tanaka made the entire line for Gamefisher, but my 3HP is for sure a Tanaka.

If you have the water level to the vent screw on the lower unit, then you are probably uncovering the exhaust port and making it easier for the engine to run, no back pressure from the exhaust being submerged. Other than that, the water level does not make any sense.
