EDIT So it's really just the ocean smell/taste that's the problem. It doesn't sizzle on the nail, so I'm assuming it's not sulfur that's leftover in it. I think there's a method floating around here on reddit on removing the sulfur from the extract with copper from pennies or something along those lines.
